I have had so many requests for the visual aids and instructional strategies which I have developed, that I decided to pass this information along — in the form of thematic, ready-to-use eSource modules. These include actionable must-have information, charts, forms, and clear instruction for parents, school staff, and those who work with students diagnosed with high functioning autism (HFA). The topics relate to their distinctive characteristics, and personal anecdotal information is often used to show how teachers have used the methodologies.

Not all of my recommendations will be necessary or appropriate for all HFA students, but there are some tried and true concepts that are beneficial for all. Use the characteristics of autism to understand learning styles and behavior. Use visual information to assist students with their schedules, academic concepts, and behavioral expectations.

Within a safe, structured, predictable environment, HFA students can learn strategies to cope with their difficulties. My eSource modules will provide suggestions on coping with the difficulties experienced by high functioning autistic students.
